The Niederrodener Lache nature reserve (NSG identification 1438010) is located in the towns of Rodgau and Rödermark in the Offenbach district in Hesse . It comprises an approximately 124.6 hectare forest and meadow area, which is divided into two parts by the crossing B 45 .

With an identical layout, the nature reserve is also designated as FFH area DE-6019-304 NSG Nieder-Rodener Lache . This makes it part of the European Natura 2000 network of protected areas .

Area description

The nature reserve is located in a larger forest area between the Rodgau district of Nieder-Roden and the Rödermarker district of Ober-Roden . The eponymous pool is a tributary to the Rodau . An almost continuous alder border of the Waldwiesenbach and adjacent meadows with alternating moisture characterize the NSG. With the exception of the adjacent settlement areas, the surrounding areas are located in the Offenbach district landscape protection area .

Protection purpose

The purpose of the NSG designation is to protect the area with its species-rich montane and submontane nebula grass lawns on silicate soils and pipe grass meadows on lime-rich, peaty and clayey-silty soils. The close interlinking of various plant formations and the diverse wet biotopes with several rare and endangered plant and animal species are relevant.
