The Central Province (Engl. Central Province ) is a province in Zambia and is in the middle of the country. The central province is the only province that is adjacent to all of the remaining eight provinces. The central province has 1,375,710 inhabitants (2010 census) and covers 94,393 km².

The central province is divided into the six districts Kabwe with the provincial capital, Mumbwa , Chibombo , Kapiri Mposhi , Mkushi and Serenje . Economically it is quite inconsistent, but can be characterized as predominantly rural. The area around Mumbwa is known as the granary of Zambia. There is also mining, manufacturing, the best-developed tourism sector in Zambia and, above all, services on the transport routes. There are also numerous private aid organizations. They not only bring purchasing power, but also skills and organization to this province, which benefits from its proximity to the capital.

Thanks to the Zambia Railways rail system , which runs from southern Zambia through Kabwe towards Copperbelt and the TAZARA to Tanzania , the Central Province is one of the few Zambian provinces with good public transport connections, which also creates economic impetus for the region.

After the Copperbelt Province , the Central Province is the most developed in Zambia. Then there are high-yield raw materials. The manganese discoveries in Mkushi are significant. The economy is diversified into many sectors, which gives the province a high development potential, even if today only a few expect a boom in the bush, which the province is characterized by especially on the south-eastern edge and in the north, but especially in the Lukanga swamps west of Kabwe . But with the very attractive South Luangwa and Lochinvar national parks, it is an increasingly strong sector.
