history
Zimmerritz was first mentioned in a document on January 20, 1366.
The Romanesque village church Zimmritz received in the 13./14. Century a choir tower, further structural additions were made around 1500. After a fire it received a mansard roof at the end of the 18th century.
During the GDR era, a dairy cattle facility was built between Zimmritz and Dürrengleina in order to relieve the farmers manually and to increase milk production. This system was operated jointly by the companies in the area. It was taken over by an agricultural cooperative after German reunification . The Stadtwerke Jena-Pößneck energy and the agricultural cooperative Bucharest jointly operate a 2013 built on the site of the biogas plant. With around 4.7 gigawatt hours of electricity generated annually, the needs of around 2,600 households are covered.
