history

Evidence of earlier village founding

In 1855, the Berleburg theologian and superintendent Dr. Friedrich Wilhelm Winckel (born September 7, 1804 in Berleburg, † December 13, 1876 in Wittenberg / Elbe ) his book From the life of Ludwig the Elder of Sayn, governed. Count of Wittgenstein . In addition to a short treatise on the chronicle of the Wittgenstein family, the main focus of the author is on the life story of Count Ludwig I, who was born on December 7th, 1532 at Wittgenstein Castle and died on July 2nd, 1605 in Altenkirchen after a fulfilled life . Dr. Winckel describes that for years he researched the castle archives almost in vain until his colleague, Pastor Koppen, found seven books of personal manuscripts in the princely library, which clearly came from Ludwig the Elder. Dr. Winkel made a remarkable bibliography from these valuable historical records by including Ludwig's diary notes in his book. While reading this book, a passage came across that could have meaning for the history of the village of Zinse:

Count Ludwig began his diary on October 25, 1559.

The count's entry from May 2, 1560 reads: “On May 2, before dinner, I traveled to Röspe to visit the neighboring farm, the Zinse, because of this dispute between the residents and those of Birkelbach and our Röspe estate is. But because every beginning is difficult, I have decided to leave the matter alone until I have gained more precise knowledge of the individual. "

Village anniversaries are based on the first documentary mention of a place. In this respect, the village of Zinse refers to the first canon letter, issued for the previously known first three settlers Johannes Weber, Johann Simon Wagener and Christian König in 1708. According to this reading, Zinse was three hundred years old in 2008. However, if one follows the tradition from the diary of Ludwig the Elder, there was already a farm in Zinse in 1560, which at that time seemed to be involved in border disputes. In this respect, the settlement of Zinse is much older than previously known and the village could have celebrated its 450th anniversary in 2010.

Younger story

Zinse is still quite a young place. Settlement began in 1708 with the creation of three canyons. The first settlers were charcoal burners . The wooded region offered the best conditions for the charcoal trade. Zinse belonged to the Feuding quarter since 1731 . In 1760 Zinse already counted 6 goods. From 1819 the place belonged to the mayor district of Erndtebrück; 1845 to the office of Erndtebrück. From the year 1828 attempts were made to carry out regular school lessons. The village school was built between 1908 and 1910. It is still preserved today and there is a service there every two weeks. The place has belonged to the municipality of Erndtebrück since the territorial reform, which came into force on January 1, 1975, and was an independent municipality in the then Wittgenstein district until it was incorporated (§ 20 Sauerland / Paderborn Act ) . In 2008 Zinse celebrated its 300th anniversary.
