The Zlín Z-226 was a Czechoslovak trainer aircraft .

development

It was largely identical to the previous Zlín Z-126 , the main difference was the more powerful engine. The prototype first flew in 1955.

The Z-226B Bohatýr (Recke) for glider tow appeared as the first series version in the same year . It had no instrumentation in the front cabin, only a seat, which compared to the main version Z-226T reduced the weight by 45 kilograms and increased the climbing performance to 7.2 meters per second.

The main version, the Z-226T Trenér , intended as a training and sports aircraft, was produced from 1956 and was the most popular Z-226 with 252 units built. It was sold in 19 states and also flown in the military under the designation C-205 . As a trainer, she had dual controls .
The single-seat aerobatic aircraft Z-226A Akrobat and Z-226AS Akrobat Spezial also went into series production, some of which were also exported. A total of 364 Z-226 were built.

The Z-226 was the last aircraft in the Trenér series with rigid landing gear. The successor was the Zlín Z-326 from 1956.
