The Zlín Z-726 is a Czechoslovak sport and aerobatic aircraft . It is the last model in the "Trenér" series, which began with the Z-26 .
history
The Z-726 is the further development of the Z-526F from 1968. Two prototypes were built and completed in May 1973. The new design has a slightly smaller wingspan and fuselage length than its predecessor and the rudder and elevator are metal-clad instead of covered with fabric. The oil and fuel system were adapted to the requirements of aerobatics. The two-seat Z-726 can be flown by a single pilot from both the front and rear seats.
In May 1973 the two prototypes began flight tests; Then series production was started, which ran until 1977. In 1974 the more powerful version Z-726K "Universal" appeared with a supercharged 6-cylinder in- line engine of the Avia M 337AK type with 157 kW (213 hp).
technical structure
The Z-726 is a cantilever low- wing aircraft with a tubular steel framework construction. The front area is covered with dural sheets, the rear area covered with fabric. The wing and tail unit are made entirely of metal, with the elevator and rudder units being equipped with auxiliary rudders. The main landing gear is designed to be electrically retractable, with the hydraulically braked wheels retracting halfway into the wings. The rigid star wheel is equipped with a hydropneumatic shock absorber.
