history

The Z-142 was developed as a further development of the Z-42 by Jiři Navratil and Miroslav Kojecky. Compared to its predecessor, the aircraft has a cockpit canopy that can be pushed forward, improved instrumentation and a fuselage that is 24 centimeters longer. An Avia M-337AK engine with 155 kW take-off power and an automatically adjustable V-500A metal propeller is used as the drive .

The first flight took place on December 29, 1978 with Zdenek Polaśek, series production began in 1980 and ended in 1992 after 335 units. The Z-142 was exported to the FRG, the GDR, Algeria, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, Canada, Cuba, Poland, Romania, Hungary and South Africa. The 57 Z- 142s purchased by Algeria on the basis of a government agreement from 1987 were delivered in individual parts and assembled at l'Entreprise de Construction Aéronautique de Tafraoui and put into service as Fernas-142 as a military beginner's trainer.

The successor model is the Z-242 , which has been in production since 1992 .

technical structure

The Z-142 is a cantilever all - metal low- wing aircraft with a rigid nose wheel landing gear. The cladding of the center fuselage section and the engine as well as the tips of the wing and tail unit are made of GRP . The wings show a slight negative arrow.
