Additional qualification
As additional skills knowledge and skills are referred to on the regular contents of the vocational training beyond.
Basics
Young people usually acquire additional qualifications parallel to dual vocational training in the company and vocational school , or directly afterwards. For people who are already in professional life, there are part-time further training or educational leave . In this way, employees improve their job market and career opportunities and specialize already during their training or based on professional requirements.
With high-quality training opportunities, companies increase their attractiveness for motivated young people, train highly qualified junior staff and open up attractive career opportunities in the company. Additional qualifications are offered by vocational schools , professional bodies , educational institutions and also by the training companies themselves.
Codified additional qualifications
Since 2005, with the amendment of the Vocational Training Act , codified additional qualifications can also be embedded in training regulations (cf. § 5 Paragraph 2 and § 49 Paragraph 1 BBiG ). As a rule, the trainee can choose an unselected optional qualification as an additional qualification and be examined there in addition to his final examination. Example: The music retailer is trained in one of the three optional qualification units: musical instruments , musical items or sound carriers . High-performing trainees can now learn two elective qualification units. One elective qualification unit is the content of the regular final examination , the second elective qualification unit is tested as an additional qualification.
In 2011, two further apprenticeships with the amended training professions media technology printing and media technology screen printing will be prescribed, which also offer codified additional qualifications. Both training regulations provide for modular sections in the form of elective qualification units (WQs). In these WQs, the trainee learns a printing technique that is also part of the final examination . High-performance young people can learn another printing technique during their training and have it tested separately. The screen printing media technologist can, for example, be tested in sheet-fed screen printing in his regular final exam and choose pad printing or large-format digital printing as an additional qualification .
Further examples
Additional qualifications are also possible for trainees with all general school qualifications and in commercial, manual and technical professions. Particularly attractive additional qualifications are:
- Computer courses, e.g. B. Computer Driving License (ECDL), Microsoft Certificates, Cisco Certificates, Vmware Certificates, LPIC Certificates, CAD
- Foreign language courses, e.g. B. KMK foreign language certificate, certificate in a foreign language
- Acquisition of the technical college entrance qualification parallel to vocational training, vocational maturity examination , apprenticeship with Matura
- Stays abroad, e.g. B. international exchange programs, double diplomas
- Assistant training, e.g. B. Operations assistant, trade / management assistant (IHK), logistics assistant , travel assistant
- Subject-specific additional qualifications, e.g. B. Tailoring alterations, driver's licenses required for professional reasons , qualified electricians for specified activities , laser / welding technology, digital media , e-commerce
- Key qualifications , e.g. B. Team development, presentation techniques, rhetoric and communication
- Instructor aptitude test , license to teach
Germany
Nationwide there are around 2,200 additional qualifications with over 70,000 trainees who use these opportunities (as of October 2005). A training contract in a recognized training occupation is required to acquire an additional qualification .
