action

Pierre Renard works as a ghostwriter for screenwriter Georges Vallier, which nobody knows. In front of Vallier's colleagues, he gives his house servant and privately does not even have enough money to dissuade the bailiff from removing his furniture. His wife Charlotte is very pregnant. One day, Georges asks him to go to the Italian actor Aldo Barazzutti's party in his place. Since he appears at the party with Georges' invitation, Aldo takes him for Georges Vallier and Pierre does not correct him. He hopes to finally be able to realize his own film project. In fact, Aldo invites him on a trip to Tunisia , where he is supposed to write a screenplay for him. Pierre expects a multi-day trip and promises Charlotte to be back in France by the time their child is born.

The stay in Tunisia turns out to be a vacation that Aldo especially wants to spend with his lover Valérie. Pierre is first working on a script that is supposed to be titled Silesian Mustard Pickles and that doesn't completely convince Aldo. He starts a relationship with Anne-Marie while on vacation, so Valérie is soon looking for a new partner in Pierre. He, in turn, has other worries: Georges has turned up in the hotel complex and Pierre is now constantly trying to avoid him and avoid getting to know Georges and Aldo. This leads to complications, for example, Pierre, the alleged camel driver, has to accompany Georges and Anne-Marie, who is also his lover, to a bazaar, where he causes chaos.

By chance, Aldo, Pierre and Georges all meet together one evening in Anne-Marie's room and are surprised by their husband. Pierre and Georges then find themselves in Anne-Marie's closet. Since her husband also spends the evening at the hotel and dines with Anne-Marie on the hotel terrace, Aldo now has to redirect all the attentions he wanted to give his lover to Pierre - he therefore receives a love cake and a bracelet and both are now valid as a couple. Georges appears and again introduces himself to Aldo as Pierre. He also takes a call for him from the hospital and tells Pierre that he has become a father. However, he did not inquire about the sex of the child.

Due to the turbulence in the evening, Aldo and Pierre flee the hotel into the desert. Here they are kidnapped by rebels. Aldo turns out to be unsuitable for the rebels, his days as a successful actor are long gone. Pierre is kept there as alleged Georges, because the rebels want him to write a film in which their struggle is shown. A year later, Pierre is still with the rebels until his guardians die in an accident. He returns to France a free man, still wondering whether he has become the father of a girl or a boy. Charlotte is waiting for him at the airport and Pierre realizes that he is the father of quadruplets.
