.kr is the country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for South Korea . It was introduced on September 29, 1986 and is administered by the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) based in Seoul .
properties
Until 2006, only names under the official subdomains such as co.kr, ne.kr or or.kr could be registered. Addresses can now also be ordered directly under the top-level domain. In total, a .kr domain can be between two and 63 characters long. Although the assignment is automated, it can take up to two days.
In addition to .kr, there has been the internationalized top-level domain since 2011. 한국. The top-level domain fully supports the Korean alphabet ( Hangeul ).
To order a .kr domain, it is necessary to be able to provide proof of a place of residence or a branch in South Korea. This makes .kr one of the last top-level domains that is not freely available globally. For those interested who do not have an appropriate seat, numerous registrars offer a trustee as owner or administrative contact ( Admin-C ) for the domain.
