.nr is the country-specific top-level domain (ccTLD) for the island state of Nauru . It has existed since March 30, 1998 and is managed by the CENPAC NET company with headquarters in the so-called Aiwo District .

Domains are assigned on both the second and third level. Initially, only people and companies residing or having a branch on Nauru could register a .nr domain; this restriction was only lifted in 2005. Since then, interested parties from abroad can also become the owner or administrative contact of a .nr domain.

In addition to .nr, there are various second-level domains , including .com.nr for commercial companies, .edu.nr for educational institutions, .gov.nr for the Naurus government, .net.nr for Internet service providers and .org.nr for non-profit organizations Organizations.
