A 6'9" forward from [[Eastern Michigan University]], Long was selected with the 33rd pick of the [[1988 NBA Draft]] by the [[Miami Heat]]. Long played six seasons for the Heat, earning a reputation for his aggressive defense and strong rebounding. After the first two games of the 1994-95 season, Long was traded to the [[Atlanta Hawks]] along with [[Steve Smith (basketball)|Steve Smith]] for [[Kevin Willis]]. Broadcasting career[edit]
Having served as the broadcast analyst for the Oklahoma City Thunder since 2008, Long resigned from the position in July 2014.[5] In October 2014 Long joined Fox Sports Detroit as a Detroit Pistons analyst and sideline reporter.[6]
