(2403) Šumava ( 1979 SQ ; 1934 PZ ; 1951 WD 1 ; 1963 TK 1 ; A918 RC ) is an approximately ten kilometers large asteroid of the central main belt , which was discovered on September 25, 1979 by the Czech (then: Czechoslovakia ) astronomer Antonín Mrkos on Kleť Observatory on the Kleť near Český Krumlov in the Czech Republic ( IAU code 046).
designation
(2403) Šumava was named after the Bohemian Forest (in Czech : Šumava ). The Blanský les with the Kleť, on which the Kleť observatory, where the asteroid was discovered, is located, belongs to the Bohemian Forest .
