(2908) Shimoyama ( 1981 WA ; 1950 TJ 4 ; 1955 TQ ; 1976 YA 4 ; 1981 UH 10 ) is an approximately 30 kilometers large asteroid of the outer main belt that was discovered on November 18, 1981 by the Japanese astronomer Toshimasa Furuta at the Tokai Observatory in of Aichi Prefecture in Japan ( IAU code 879).

(2908) Shimoyama was named after the village of Shimoyama , near which the Tokai Observatory is located.
