(29528) Kaplinski is an asteroid of the central main belt , which was discovered on January 10, 1998 by the Czech astronomer Lenka Kotková (then still under her birth name Lenka Šarounová ) at the Ondřejov observatory ( IAU code 557) in Ondřejov u Prahy .

The mean diameter of the asteroid was calculated to be around 4.5 km .

(29528) Kaplinski was named on February 18, 2011 after the Estonian writer , poet , translator and philosopher Jaan Kaplinski (* 1940). In the naming text for the asteroid it is mentioned that Kaplinski is also an amateur astronomer and has written a non-fiction book about astronomy .
