(35334) Yarkovsky is an asteroid of the main belt discovered on March 31, 1997 by the Italian astronomers Piero Sicoli and Francesco Manca at the Osservatorio Astronomico Sormano ( IAU code 587) near Sormano in the province of Como .
(35334) Yarkovsky was named on August 9, 2006 after the Russian-Polish civil engineer Iwan Ossipowitsch Jarkowski (1844–1902) who discovered the Jarkowski effect named after him around 1900 .
