(58896) Schlosser is an asteroid located in the main central belt . It was discovered on May 15, 1998 at the Starkenburg observatory in Heppenheim ( IAU code 611). When discovered, the asteroid had an apparent magnitude of 18 mag.

Mean solar distance ( major semi-axis ), eccentricity and inclination of the orbit plane of (58896) Schlosser roughly correspond to the Eunomia family, a group named after (15) Eunomia , to which probably five percent of the asteroids of the main belt belong.

The asteroid was named after the German astronomer Wolfhard Schlosser on March 30, 2010 .
