(61342) Lovejoy is an asteroid of the main belt , which on August 3, 2000 by Australian astronomer Gordon J. Garradd at the observatory in Loomberah ( IAU code 422) in Australia was discovered.
The asteroid was named on September 26, 2007 after the Australian computer scientist and comet discoverer Terry Lovejoy (* 1966).
