(6824) Mallory is an asteroid of the main outer belt that was discovered on September 8, 1988 by the Czech astronomer Antonín Mrkos at the Kleť Observatory ( IAU code 046) near the town of Český Krumlov .

The celestial body belongs to the Themis family, a group of asteroids named after (24) Themis .

The celestial body was on 12 November 1999 after the British mountaineer George Mallory named (1886 to 1924), 1924 while trying together with Andrew Irvine to Mount Everest to climb, did not return from the mountain.
