(9342) Carygrant is an asteroid of the main belt , which on August 6, 1991 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the La Silla Observatory of the European Southern Observatory in Chile ( IAU code was discovered 809).
The asteroid was named on November 20, 2002 after the British film actor Cary Grant (1904-1986), who became a US citizen in 1942 and directed four important film classics under the direction of Alfred Hitchcock , including 1955 Above the Rooftops of Nice with Grace Kelly .
