Keflavík ÍF (short for Keflavík Íþrotta- og ungmennafélag ) is an Icelandic football club that plays in the second highest Icelandic league, the 1st deild karla.
history
The Keflavík ÍF was created in 1956 under the name ÍB Keflavík through the merger of the UMFK Keflavík founded on September 29, 1929 and the KFK Keflavík founded on July 12, 1950 . In 1994 the association was renamed Keflavík ÍF.
The club from Keflavík , which is around 40 kilometers from the Icelandic capital Reykjavík , plays in the Keflavíkurvöllur Stadium, which has a capacity of 2,000 . Club colors are blue-white-red .
The first Icelandic League belonged to the club 1958 - 60 , 1963 - 80 , 1982 - 89 and 1993 - 2015 on. The championship in 1964 , 1969 , 1971 and 1973 could be won. Keflavík was cup winner four times, in 1975, 1997, 2004 and 2006. In addition, IBK was five more times in the cup final. The club has participated in the European Cup and the UI Cup several times since 1966.
In the 2005 UEFA Cup qualification , the Icelanders played against 1. FSV Mainz 05 .
