Austrian Ski Championships 1949
The Austrian Ski Championships 1949 of the Austrian Ski Association took place from February 9th to 13th in Villach in Carinthia .
Both the champions in the alpine (men, women) and in the Nordic ski competitions (men, juniors) were chosen. A total of 250 participants had named in both categories. There are various details about the cross-country master. In the winners list of the Austrian Ski Association, Josl Gstrein is listed as the cross-country winner . In the contemporary source, Gstrein is expressly named as a favorite for cross-country skiing in the preliminary reporting, while Hias Noichl is stated as the cross-country skiing winner in the result, while Gstrein refers to the fact that he achieved the fastest time and thus leads the combined ranking. From this it can be deduced that Gstrein only called for the combination and therefore would not have been rated in the special cross-country skiing.
