Austrian Ski Championships 1921
The 9th Austrian Ski Championship took place as part of the 9th Austrian Ski Association competition from February 5 to 6, 1921 in St. Johann im Pongau in the state of Salzburg and was the first Austrian after the main association competition of 1920 had to be canceled Ski championship after the First World War .
For Austrian ski champion for 1921 is crowned Vorarlberg Josef Bildstein from the Austrian winter sports club Vienna .

The Salzburg Ski Club and the St. Johann im Pongau winter sports association were responsible for the orientation and organization . Despite the difficult situation in the new First Republic , visitors from Vienna , Carinthia , Tyrol , Styria and neighboring Bavaria came .
Prices
The winner of the championship received the golden plaque of the Austrian Ski Association.
Attendees
In addition to the Germans, Dr. Hannemann from Munich , as well as Dr. Beck and Ertl from Berchtesgaden are exclusively Austrians .
The 1913 champion , Sepp Bildstein , as well as Ambros Scholz and Hans Mayringer came from the renowned Austrian Winter Sports Club in Vienna . The Association of Styrian Skiers sent u. a. Josef Obereder , Franz Janiss and Karl Pugl . From Innsbruck , Robert Lezuo , Greussing and Dr. Gatti.
Among the local athletes named u. a. the brothers Siegried and Hermann Amanshauser , the brothers Eder from Zell am See , Peter Radacher from Mühlbach and Max Deutsch from Gastein .
Karl Risch from the Association of Vorarlberg Skiers probably took part. In the present source, however , the athlete Risch is referred to as Berchtesgadener .

The route led over a distance of 13 km from the Hochgründeck in the middle of the Salzburg Slate Alps with an altitude difference of 1,000 meters and a counter gradient of 100 meters to the destination in St. Johann.
A total of 74 athletes took part in the cross-country skiing competitions, divided into 1st class , 2nd class and age group.

The obstacle course was first included as a partial competition for the championship. It was nothing more than a downhill run, whereby the participants had to prove themselves on a route with built-in short jumps on a route given by gate flags (these were the "obstacles").

The jumping competition was opened by the well-known Norwegian Harald Smith , who only started out of competition, with a skilled jump of 31 meters.
