Über-Ich und Du is a German comedy film from 2014 with Georg Friedrich and André Wilms in the leading roles. The director was Benjamin Heisenberg , who also wrote the script together with Josef Lechner. The film opened in German cinemas on May 8, 2014. The title is based on the identical terms from Sigmund Freud's psychoanalysis.

Nick is a casual crook who tries to keep the milieu's debt collectors off his back by selling stolen antiquarian books . During a break-in, he unexpectedly meets the resident of the villa, Curt Ledig, and his daughter, who are about to go on vacation. Nick is mistaken for the expected house sitter Franz and given a warm welcome. Single convinces his family that he can stay in his villa after all, especially since he has support in Nick in the event of a crisis. In the meantime, we learn that Ledig is a well-known but no longer practicing psychotherapist , who was patronized by Joseph Goebbels in the period before and during the Second World War , which he seems to be suppressing as much as he would be prepared to come to terms with it.
Single secretly watches as Nick removes books to sell them. He then decides for himself to treat him - initially without his knowledge. In the course of the film, a kind of amicable love-hate relationship develops between the two, perhaps in the sense of attachment theory . After they were beaten by Nick's fences, Single questioned Nick while driving a car and also works with suggestions . Nick then noticed neurotic changes in himself: For example, he could no longer go into the kitchen and began to wink with his eye - tics that he practically took care of for Single.
When staying in Ledig's holiday alpine hut , there is a scandal ; After a promise of healing from Single, Nick lets himself be buried up to his head, but is no longer freed by this overnight. After this cathartic experience - see also catharsis (literature) - which is not without consequences for single people, everyone involved goes to a conference where single person finally wants to publicly admit his past crimes. As he begins, he is shown books in which he has already made this apology. Then the fence gang appears. In the resulting general confusion, everyone flees to the park of the conference palace. In the end, single and Nick hide in the shell of a hot air balloon landing in the park (symbol of the superego ?), Which had appeared earlier in the film.
