history
In 1399, Duke Johan III allowed. to draw the water in Grenitz for the Vogt of Newenstadt (north of Zator) . The name Granica existed next to the name Łowiczki until the 20th century and was connected to the border of the town of Zator west of the ponds in Bugaj. On the Austrian map by Friedrich von Mieg (1779–1783) only a few houses were indicated at this location, but on the Franziszeische Landaufnahme from around 1860 there were some settlements at this point, including Granica and Wowiczki in the north. At that time, Łowiczki was considered a hamlet. The name is a plural form of the personal name * Łowiczek (compare Łowiczyk , łowić - to fish).
