The Gmina Zator [ 'zatɔr ] is a town-and-country municipality in the powiat Oświęcimski of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship in Poland . Its seat is the city ​​of the same name with about 3700 inhabitants.

The municipality is ten kilometers north of Wadowice . The most important body of water is the Skawa , there are also many lakes in the municipality. The municipality has an area of ​​51.4 km², 52% of which is used for agriculture and 6% for forestry.

history

From 1975 to 1998 the municipality belonged to the Bielsko-Biała Voivodeship .

The town-and-country community (gmina miejsko-wiejska) Zator includes the namesake town and the following nine villages with school administration offices (sołectwa):

Graboszyce , Grodzisko , Laskowa , Łowiczki , Palczowice , Podolsze , Rudze , Smolice and Trzebieńczyce .

education

The municipality has five kindergartens (przedszkole), eight elementary schools (szkoła podstawowa), four middle schools (gimnazjum), a high school (liceum ogólnokształcące), a technical center and a library.

traffic

The state roads DK 28 and DK 44 as well as the voivodship road DW 781 run through the municipality and its main town .
