Trzebieńczyce is a village with a Schulzenamt of the municipality Zator in the powiat Oświęcimski of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship in Poland .
geography
The place is on the right bank of the Skawa River with hamlets on the left bank.
It has an area of 222 ha .
Neighboring towns are the town of Zator in the north, Laskowa in the east, Grodzisko in the south, and Rudze in the east.
history
In 1569, King Sigismund II confirmed the privileges of the city of Zator, including one from 1292 where the village of Trzebyencam was mentioned. The patronymic name, earlier also Trzebieszyce, is derived from the personal name * Trzebieniek (≤ Trzebiemysł, Trzebiemir). According to local tradition, it comes from three descendants of a certain Bienio , who were called trzech (three) Bieńczyce .
Politically, the village later belonged to the Duchy of Auschwitz , which existed from 1315 during the period of Polish particularism . Since 1327 consisted suzerainty of the Kingdom of Bohemia . Since 1445 it belonged to the Duchy of Zator , which was sold to the Polish king in 1494. In 1564 Trzebieńczyce was fully incorporated as part of the new Silesia District of the Krakow Voivodeship to the Kingdom of Poland , from 1569 the Polish-Lithuanian aristocratic republic .
During the first partition of Poland , Trzebieńczyce came to the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire in 1772 (from 1804). From 1782 it belonged to the Myslenice district (1819 with the seat in Wadowice ). After the abolition of patrimonial it formed a municipality in the Wadowice district after 1850 .
In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Trzebieńczyce came to Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II .
From 1975 to 1998 Trzebieńczyce was part of the Bielsko-Biała Voivodeship .
