Świdnik (formerly also Świdniki , Świdnik Tęgoborski ) is a village with a Schulzenamt of the municipality Łukowica in the Powiat Limanowski of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship in Poland .
geography
The place lies on the right, western bank of the brook Słomka, a left tributary of the Dunajec , in the island Beskids . The neighboring towns are Łukowica in the west, Stronie in the north, Owieczka in the east, and Jadamwola in the southwest.
history
Archaeological finds of a Neolithic tomb and the Lusatian culture (1200 to 400 BC) were found in Świdnik .
The place was first mentioned in a document in 1326. The topographical name is derived from the stream of the same name (meaning clear, shining ).
Politically and administratively, the private village belonged to the Kingdom of Poland (from 1569 in the aristocratic republic of Poland-Lithuania ), Krakow Voivodeship , Sącz District. During the Reformation around 1600 it belonged to the Rogowski family. Marcin Rogowski built an Arian prayer house, d. H. of the Polish Brothers . In 1620 the farmers from Łącko , Ochotnica and Kamienica attacked Świdnik and destroyed the manor and the prayer house. According to tradition, the chapel was built in the local park on the site of the tomb of the killed Arians . From 1629 the village belonged to the Wielogłowski family. In 1752 they built a manor.
After the First Partition of Poland, Świdnik became part of the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire (from 1804).
In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Świdnik came to Poland. This was interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II , during which it was part of the Krakow district in the Generalgouvernement .
From 1975 to 1998 Świdnik was part of the Nowy Sącz Voivodeship .
