Świniowice (German: Schwinowitz ) is a village in Upper Silesia . It is located in the municipality of Tworóg (Tworog) in the Powiat Tarnogórski (Tarnowitz district) in the Silesian Voivodeship .

Świniowice is three kilometers southwest of the township seat Tworóg , 16 kilometers northwest of the district town Tarnowskie Góry (Tarnowitz) and 38 kilometers northwest of the voivodeship capital Katowice (Kattowitz).

history

The place originated in the 13th century and was first mentioned in documents as "Swoynowitz" around 1295 in the Liber fundationis episcopatus Vratislaviensis (Tithe Register of the Diocese of Breslau).

In 1818 the place was mentioned as Schwiniowitz and also as Swinawitz . In 1865 Schwinowitz consisted of a village and a domain, consisting of a manorial Vorwerk. The village had seven farms, ten gardeners, five cottages with fields, eleven cottages without fields, 44 private houses and a Kretscham (a restaurant). Furthermore, the place was parish after Langendorf at this time .

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 62 eligible voters voted to remain with Germany and 173 for Poland. Schwinowitz remained with the German Empire . In 1936 the place was renamed Ebersheide . Until 1945 the place was in the district of Tost-Gleiwitz .

In 1945 the previously German place came under Polish administration and was renamed Świniowice and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950 the place came to the Katowice Voivodeship . In 1999 the place came to the re-established Powiat Tarnogórski and the new Silesian Voivodeship .
