history
The place originated in the 13th century. Around 1295 the place was mentioned in the Liber fundationis episcopatus Vratislaviensis (Tithe Register of the Diocese of Wroclaw) as "Polom", and it was described as Villa theutonicalis (German village).
In 1818 the place was mentioned as Pohlain (it could possibly be a transcription error ). In 1865 Pohlom consisted of a manor and a village. The manor consisted of the Vorwerke Ober-Pohlom and Nieder-Pohlom. The village had five farmers, 18 gardeners, four half-gardeners and 23 cottagers. The school was also in Tworog.
In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 29 eligible voters voted to remain with Germany and 242 for Poland. Pohlom remained with the German Empire . In 1936 the place was renamed Ostwalde . Until 1945 the place was in the district of Tost-Gleiwitz .
In 1945 the previously German place came under Polish administration and was renamed Połomia and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950 the place came to the Katowice Voivodeship . In 1999 the place came to the re-established Powiat Tarnogórski and the new Silesian Voivodeship .
