Brynek (German: Brynnek ) is a village in Upper Silesia in the municipality Tworóg (Tworog) in the Powiat Tarnogórski (Tarnowitz district) in the Silesian Voivodeship in Poland .

geography

Brynek is three kilometers southeast of the township seat Tworóg , thirteen kilometers northwest of the district town Tarnowskie Góry (Tarnowitz) and 36 kilometers northwest of the voivodeship capital Katowice (Kattowitz).

history

In 1818 the place was mentioned as Brenneck. In 1865 Brynnek had four farmers, 18 gardeners, three half-gardeners and cottagers. Furthermore, the place was schooled after Tworog.

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 152 eligible voters voted to remain with Germany and 149 for Poland. Brynnek stayed with the German Empire . In 1936 the place was renamed Brunneck . Until 1945 the place was in the district of Tost-Gleiwitz .

In 1945 the previously German place came under Polish administration and was renamed Brynek and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950 the place came to the Katowice Voivodeship . In 1999 the place came to the re-established Powiat Tarnogórski and the new Silesian Voivodeship .

In the former Tworóg Brynek station, the former Zabrze Mikulczyce – Tworóg Brynek railway met the Tarnowskie Góry – Opole railway, which was still used for freight .
