(11201) Talich is an asteroid of the outer main belt , which was discovered on March 13, 1999 by the Czech astronomer Lenka Kotková (at that time still under her birth name Lenka Šarounová ) at the observatory Ondřejov ( IAU code 557) in Ondřejov u Prahy . Unconfirmed sightings of the asteroid had previously existed under the provisional designation 1977 RD 13 on September 9 and 10, 1977 at the Palomar Observatory in California .

The asteroid is a member of the Koronis family, a group of asteroids named after (158) Koronis . The timeless (not osculating ) orbital elements of (11201) Talich are almost identical to those of the larger asteroids (7210) Darius and the smaller asteroid (55691) 3028 T-2 , (88045) 2000 VC 5 , (170751) 2004 BC 163 , (173801) 2001 SE 225 , (179322) 2001 WF 44 and (355068) 2006 SC 219 . The size comparison is based solely on the absolute brightness , since the diameters of the celestial bodies are not known.

(11201) Talich was named on January 28, 2002 after the Czech conductor Václav Talich (1883–1961), who is regarded as one of the most important Czech conductors of the 20th century.
