(19994) Tresini is an asteroid of the main middle belt , which was discovered by the Soviet astronomers Lyudmyla Karachkina and Galina Kastel on October 13, 1990 at the Crimean Observatory in Nautschnyj ( IAU code 095).
The asteroid belongs to the Gefion family, a group of asteroids of the central main belt named after (1272) Gefion . The group used to be called the Ceres family (after (1) Ceres , Vincenzo Zappalà 1995) and the Minerva family (after (93) Minerva , AstDyS-2 database). The timeless (non- osculating ) orbital elements of (19994) Tresini are almost identical to those of the smaller one, assuming the absolute brightness of 16.4 compared to 13.4, asteroids (350913) 2002 RR 267 . The orbit of (19994) Tresini around the Sun is influenced by the much larger asteroid (15) Eunomia .
The period of rotation of the asteroid was examined on November 6th and 7th, 2013 by Amadeo Aznar in Aras de los Olmos , Spain , and determined to be 9.660 h (± 0.025).
(19994) Tresnini was named on March 18, 2003 after Domenico Trezzini (* around 1670; † 1734), a Swiss architect who was commissioned by Russian Tsar Peter the Great to plan several buildings there on the occasion of the founding of the new capital Saint Petersburg . The dedication highlighted the Peter and Paul Fortress , the Summer Palace of Peter the Great and the Twelve Colleges, a block of ministerial buildings now used by the St. Petersburg State University . Tresini is a Russification of its Italian name.
