(243491) Mühlviertel is an asteroid of the inner main belt . It was discovered on October 20, 2009 by the Austrian amateur astronomer David Voglsam at the Davidschlag observatory in Kirchschlag near Linz . The object has a diameter of a good two and a half kilometers.

The asteroid was named after the Mühlviertel , a landscape in Upper Austria . The reasons for this were the location of the observatory in the Mühlviertel and the low level of light pollution there .
