(2901) Bagehot ( 1973 DP ; 1959 JE ; 1980 SE ) is an asteroid of the outer main belt that was discovered on February 27, 1973 by the Czech (then: Czechoslovakia ) astronomer Luboš Kohoutek at the Hamburg observatory in Hamburg-Bergedorf ( IAU code 029 ) has been discovered. It belongs to the Koronis family , a group of asteroids named after (158) Koronis .
designation
(2901) Bagehot was named after the economist , journalist and editor of the weekly newspaper The Economist Walter Bagehot (1826–1877) from the United Kingdom . The naming was suggested by O. Morton .
