(2990) Trimberger ( 1981 EN 27 ; 1973 AQ 1 ; 1977 GL ) is an approximately eleven-kilometer asteroid of the main inner belt that was discovered on March 2, 1981 by the American astronomer Schelte John Bus at the Siding Spring Observatory nearby from Coonabarabran , New South Wales in Australia ( IAU code 260). It belongs to the Hertha family , a group of asteroids named after (135) Hertha .
designation
(2990) Trimberger is named after Stephen Trimberger , who participated in the Planet-Crossing Asteroid Survey as a student at the California Institute of Technology . He works in software development and has authored two books on computer-aided design for integrated circuits.
