(6231) Hundertwasser is an asteroid of the main inner belt that was discovered on March 20, 1985 by the Czech astronomer Antonín Mrkos at the Kleť Observatory ( IAU code 046) near Český Krumlov .

The asteroid is named after the Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser . The designation was made on the proposal of the Czech astronomer Jana Tichá by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) on May 23, 2000.
