(7625) Louisspohr is an asteroid of the central main belt that was discovered on September 29, 1973 by the Dutch astronomer couple Cornelis Johannes van Houten and Ingrid van Houten-Groeneveld . The discovery happened during the second Trojan survey , during which Tom Gehrels surveyed field plates recorded at the University of Leiden with the 120 cm Oschin Schmidt telescope of the Palomar observatory ( IAU code 675) .

It was named after the German composer , conductor , singing teacher , organizer of music festivals and violinist Louis Spohr (1784-1859), who enjoyed international reputation and, alongside the Italian Niccolò Paganini, was one of the greatest violinists of his time.
