(79271) Bellagio is an asteroid of the main inner belt discovered on September 28, 1995 by the Italian astronomer Valter Giuliani and the Italian amateur astronomer Graziano Ventre at the Osservatorio Astronomico Sormano ( IAU code 587) near the Lombardy municipality of Sormano .
The asteroid was named on May 23, 2005 after Bellagio , a community on Lake Como , just a few kilometers north of the observatory.
