- Around 9640 BC Chr .: transition from the geological epoch of the Pleistocene to the Holocene. With the end of the Younger Dryas , the last cold fluctuation at the end of the last glacial period , the Pleistocene ends and the warm period that continues to this day begins ( Neo or Flanders warm period ).
- With the change in climate came the peak of the Quaternary extinction wave . Numerous representatives of the Ice Age megafauna (e.g. cave lion , giant deer , woolly mammoth or woolly rhinoceros ) died out or were reduced to regional remnants.
- Around 9600 BC The Middle Stone Age begins in Central Europe .

- In North America that occurs Clovis culture in appearance. Its existence can be traced back to around 9500 to 9000 BC. To date. The tools and animal bones found identify the Clovis people as hunters and gatherers , who preferred to hunt the mammoth and other large animals.
