- The two tribunes of the people, Gaius Licinius Stolo and Lucius Sextius Lateranus, put forward new legislative proposals designed to significantly strengthen the power of the Roman plebeians . This meets with resistance from the patricians and is prevented by the other tribunes. Stolo and Lateranus then use their veto to prevent elections to all curular offices (curular aediles , praetors , consuls and censors ) for the next five years .
