- At the Synod in Augusta Treverorum , Emperor Magnus Maximus had the theologian Priscillian , Bishop of Ávila , executed as a heretic, despite strong objections from many bishops in the West, including famous personalities such as Martin of Tours and Ambrosius of Milan . The most important accusers include the bishops Hydatius of Emeritia and Ithacius of Ossonoba. After the synod, Pope Siricius dissolves fellowship with all bishops who participated in the trial against Priscillian, in particular the newly elected Felix von Trier is subsequently isolated.
