- around 41 BC Chr .: The Roman historian Sallust wrote the monograph De coniuratione Catilinae ( On the Conspiracy of Catiline ). In it Sallust describes the conspiracy of Lucius Sergius Catilina , who died in 63 BC. BC tried to take power in the Roman Republic by means of a coup, which was thwarted by the consul Marcus Tullius Cicero .
