Roman Civil Wars :
- April 14 or 15 : In the battle of Forum Gallorum , the Senate Party defeated the Caesarians under Marcus Antonius under their generals Gaius Vibius Panza Caetronianus and Aulus Hirtius . When news of the outcome of the battle was received in Rome a few days later, the Senate, at the suggestion of Marcus Tullius Cicero, confirmed the proclamation of the three generals as emperors on April 21 and decided to celebrate with thanks.
- April 21 : The Senate Party also wins the Battle of Mutina , but Aulus Hirtius is killed. Gaius Vibius Panza Caetronianus also dies two days after the battle of his injuries, leaving Octavian as the only general of the Senate , who from now on pursues his own goals.
- November 11th : In Rome, the 2nd triumvirate between Octavian , Marcus Antonius and Marcus Aemilius Lepidus is closed for five years.
- November 27th : With the Lex Titia, the people's assembly in Rome gives the triumvirate dictatorial powers for a period of five years.
- The triumvirs use Lex Pedia to write a proscription list of their political opponents. These can be killed by anyone, their legacy falls to the state. This is primarily intended to finance the war against the Caesar murderers .
- December 7th : The speaker Cicero , placed on the proscription list , is murdered on the run by the centurion Herennius and the military tribune Gaius Popilius Laenas at the behest of Mark Antony . His body is cruelly mutilated and dragged through the streets of Rome, his head and hands are displayed on the rostra , the speaker's platform in the Roman Forum . Fulvia , who was successively married to his enemies Clodius and Antonius, is said to have pierced his tongue with her hairpin according to Cassius Dio , an event which, however, is not confirmed by any other Roman historian. Cicero's brother Quintus also falls victim to proscription. The total number of deaths in this wave of proscriptions is around 2300, of which 300 are senators and 2000 are knights .
