- Cimbron Wars : In the battle of Aquae Sextiae , today's Aix-en-Provence (southern France), the Teutons and Ambrones under Teutobod are crushed by Gaius Marius . The teutonicus furor is over. However, the Cimbri continue to pose a threat to the Roman Empire .
- The former consul Gaius Flavius Fimbria is accused by Marcus Gratidius of extortion in the course of his provincial administration, but acquitted.
