Politics and world events
- 510 /509: The legendary last Etruscan king Lucius Tarquinius Superbus is struck according to tradition in battle and from Rome banned. This is the end of the Roman royal era . First consuls of the new Roman Republic are the legend after Lucius Junius Brutus and Lucius Tarquinius Collatinus . Brutus soon fell in battle, while Collatinus had to go into exile because of his relationship to the deposed king. They are followed by Spurius Lucretius Tricipitinus and Publius Valerius Poplicola as suffect consuls . When Tricipitinus also dies, Marcus Horatius Pulvillus becomes his successor.
- In Athens, Lysagoras is elected Archon eponymos in summer .
