The A44 road ( English for road A44 ) is as a continuously designated primary route , almost 250 km long trunk road, which connects Oxford with the west coast of Wales.
course
The road branches off from the A40 road at Oxford near the junction with the A34 road and leads, initially partially with four lanes, to the north-west via Woodstock (with Blenheim Palace ) to Chipping Norton , where it crosses the A361 road , to Moreton- in-marsh . There the A429 road is crossed. The A44 continues to Evesham , which is bypassed together with the A46 road to the west. The continuation of the road leads to Worcester , which will be driven through (the A44 loses its character as the primary route when it is passed through, which merges with the southern bypass by the A4440 road , but takes it again after the city). To the west, the A44 leads to Bromyard , where the A465 road branches off, and Leominster . There it crosses the A49 road . The border with Wales is crossed to the west of Kington (Herefordshire) . At Crossgates the A483 road , one of the continuous north-south connections in Wales, crosses in Rhayader ( Welsh Rhaeadr Gwy ) it meets the A470 road , with which it, following the valley of the River Wye , divides the route to Llangurig . After the two roads have separated, the A44 continues up the valley of the Wye, crosses the watershed and heads west to the coastal town of Aberystwyth , where it ends on the A487 road .
