history

The company was founded in 1959 in Oberrot by Alfred Schefenacker (AS). The namesake had designed the Allmower with the aim of making mowing in steep terrain much easier. He also developed a two-stroke engine as a drive for the Allmäher, which is still the centerpiece of many AS mowers, as he in any position lubricated and therefore also suitable for steep slopes. The AS-Motor-2-stroke engines meet the current European exhaust emission standard 97/68 / EG for hand-operated motor mowers ; They were honored with the TASPO Award as the two-stroke lawnmower with the lowest emissions .

The family company AS-Motor is run in the third generation by Eberhard Lange, the grandson of the company's founder, Alfred Schefenacker.

The company cooperates with the Samariterstiftung Fränkische Werkstätten Obersontheim : Since 2012 people with mental disabilities have been integrated into AS-Motor.

AS-Motor has had an ISO 9001 certified quality management system since 1995 .

AS-Motor was already offering a battery-powered lawn mower at the end of the 1960s . With around 38,000 devices per year, the company was one of the largest manufacturers of battery mowers in Europe at the time.

At the end of the 1970s, the company produced the world's only hand-operated all-wheel-drive mower for maintaining steep slopes. At the same time, it expanded the export of its devices abroad .

Since the beginning of 2000, AS-Motor has also been equipping its devices with four-stroke engines from Briggs & Stratton .

In 2002, AS-Motor founded a cooperative with two other companies , whose Internet platform "parts-and-more 3.0" allows dealers to easily purchase equipment, spare parts and detailed drawings .

The first ride-on mower AS 940 Sherpa 4WD RC, which can also be remotely controlled, received the silver medal in the 2017 demopark innovation competition . With this ride-on high grass mower, AS-Motor is the world leader. In 2018 the AS Sherpa was launched on the US market.

In 2019, AS-Motor again received a silver medal in the innovation competition at demopark - for the diagnostic device AS SherLog 1.0, which is available in the first step for the remote-controlled ride-on mower AS 940 Sherpa 4WD RC and the service-providing specialist trade for testing electrical and electronic components enables.

Plant and distribution channels

AS-Motor has a research and development team of 12 and produces the devices with a very high level of vertical integration in Bühlertann; 70 percent of the parts used in production come from regional suppliers .

AS-Motor devices are sold through specialist dealers and are available worldwide in 37 countries in Europe , the USA , the Middle East , Australia and Asia .
