The ATE IIIa were passenger train - steam locomotives of the kk priv. Aussig-Teplitzer Eisenbahn (ATE).

history

For operation on its sloping main line from Aussig to Komotau , ATE needed powerful locomotives for passenger trains at an early stage. In 1869, ATE ordered nine triple-coupled tender locomotives from Hartmann in Chemnitz . The locomotives were given the track numbers 17 to 25 and the names HERBITZ (later EISENBERG ), DONNERSBERG , SCHRECKENSTEIN , ROTHENHAUS , OSSEGG , ALBERT, EICHWALD , ROSENBURG and GEIERSBERG .

After the nationalization of ATE (1924), the Czechoslovak State Railways ČSD gave them the new series designation  322.3 .

The locomotives were retired in the 1920s. The 322,302 (formerly ATE No. 18 DONNERSBERG ) was preserved and is now owned by the National Technical Museum in Prague .

technical features

The locomotives had an inner frame with an internal Gooch control , a safety valve on each of the steam dome and standing boiler, and a funnel chimney with the spark arrester typical of lignite firing. The sandboxes were arranged above the drive wheels. The locomotive also had a driver's cab for the locomotive crew that was a matter of course at that time.
