A Single Shot (Original title: A Single Shot ) is a 2013 released dramatic thriller directed by David M. Rosenthal based on a screenplay by Matthew F. Jones , which is based on his novel of the same name. The leading role is played by Sam Rockwell , with other roles played by William H. Macy , Ted Levine , Kelly Reilly and Jason Isaacs . The film had its world premiere on February 9, 2013 at the Berlinale 2013 . In the United States, the strip premiered on April 25, 2013 at the Newport Beach International Film Festival.

Recently separated from his family, John Moon made a living in poverty in Upstate New York by poaching . While on the hunt for a deer, he accidentally shoots a young girl (later called the German ). Desperate about the fatal accident, he hides the corpse near his emergency shelter. In the makeshift shelter, John finds a gun and a box with several thousand US dollars . In the days that followed, John received anonymous threats from people who knew he had the money. He is under increasing pressure, his dog is shot, his house is ransacked, his wife and son are visited by strange people. One day when John sees an advertisement in a magazine showing the girl he shot, he becomes increasingly restless. Suddenly he notices that the girl's body has disappeared from its hiding place. In a panic, he runs home, where he finds his apartment lit up and the girl's corpse in his bedroom with a message that John Moon murdered me . To keep the dead girl's body out of the way, he freezes her in his freezer. While he is sleeping, a stranger throws a stone with a message through his window. In this John is asked to hand over the money otherwise his wife and son are threatened. John makes his way to his wife and finds that his wife is not at work in the diner and also not in her home. John goes on a search.

A Single Shot received mixed reviews, earning a 50% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 42 reviews with an average rating of 5.7 out of 10. The consensus says, “The film has a dark atmospheric feel and a great performance by Sam Rockwell but A Single Shot is predictable by its story. ”The film also has a score of 53 out of 100 on Metacritic , based on 16 reviews.
Soundtrack
The music for A Single Shot was written by the Icelandic- born composer Atli Örvarsson , whose music is deeply rooted in 20th century modernism.
